Barbecue Sauce for A One-Of-A-Kind Barbecue

To find a person in the United States of America who has not experienced a barbecue cookout is a rare instance. Barbecuing has become an integral part of the American way of living in both formal and informal occasions. Instances of home barbecuing interspersed with barbecue catering services have made this unique cookout a remarkable aspect of American culture. Mentioning America only would be being biased. Barbecues are just as popular in other countries as they are in America. Whether it be due to the sauce or condiment that is added, the barbecues of each country differ from those prepared in another.

For the perfect barbecue, the proper equipment must be sorted out first. The usual pieces of equipment like the smoker, the pit and the grill are required to set the scene for a proper barbecue. One thing to be noted is that barbecuing can be done not just indoors but also outdoors.

For indoor barbecues, smokers are commonly used. However, the food matters as much as the equipment (actually, it is the only thing that matters when the cooking is complete). The food involved in barbecuing consists of more than just steak or ribs. What one needs to render a barbecue with a perfectly unique defining taste is a good choice of barbecue sauce.

It is practically impossible to determine when barbecue sauce was first used. There are records of some instances of barbecue sauce having been used as early as in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. Barbecue sauces have been widely used and are still being used to enhance the taste of barbecues prepared not only by amateur chefs at home, but also by professional catering services. It is no exaggeration that the barbecue sauce determines the originality of a barbecue.

Barbecue sauces have a huge number of variations. There are thicker versions of the sauce, and also more fluid or watery types. The tastes also vary from barbecue to barbecue, from sour sauces to hot sauces.

These variations of taste are mainly because of the wide range of preparation techniques for these sauces. The base material used in barbecue sauces can vary from vinegar to mustard and even Mexican salsa. Ingredients that are most commonly used include tomato puree, spices and sweeteners. Such variations in taste are also regional. The barbecue sauce commonly prepared in one state of the United States of America is distinctly different from the barbecue sauce commonly prepared in another state, and also from that commonly used in other continents like Asia.

The use of the barbecue sauce is just as varied. It is most frequently used as a topping for the cooked meat. In other words, the most common use for barbecue sauce is as a garnishing after the meat has been barbecued. Sometimes, accompanying snacks like fries are also dipped in the barbecue sauce. Even pizzas are occasionally topped with barbecue sauce.

Even though certain veterans do not approve of barbecue sauce, this condiment not only enhances the flavor of the barbecue, but also makes each barbecue a unique experience for the taste buds.
