The Barbecue Smoker - Quality Barbecue at Your Fingertips

With the barbecue becoming a regular culinary practice in the world of today, it may correctly be assumed that the techniques involved in this activity called barbecuing has seen several modifications and considerable amount of evolution. It would be quite accurate to mention that barbecuing techniques and equipment have undergone a lot of developmental changes over the past two centuries.

These changes have given rise to pieces of equipment specialized for use in specific environments such as the domestic kitchen, the commercial kitchen or even the outdoors, like your own backyard, for example.

The barbecue was originally a process of roasting pieces of food like meats over an open flame. Many barbecue grilles still involve this principle. Barbecue turners are accessory barbecue tools that allow you to turn the food over an open flame or inside a barbecue pit. Some pieces of equipment are designed such that the direct application of flame is not required at all. An example from this category of barbecue equipment is the revolutionary barbecue smoker.

The equipment known as the barbecue smoker can be used as a substitute for the traditional barbecue grill. Unlike most barbecue grilles, smokers are closed structures that involve the convection of hot smoke past the food to be cooked. Although this principle at first seems similar to the convection oven, it is entirely different. The barbecue smoker utilizes air and not smoke as the medium for convection. Also, this process of cooking is a lot slower than traditional barbecuing with grills. This, again, is unlike the convection oven, which is used essentially to accelerate the process of cooking.

Despite this drawback, the barbecue smoker is used in most of the restaurants in the United States of America that serve barbecued food. The reason for this is simple. Cooking with a barbecue grill is a rapid process. In case of tough pieces of meat like steaks, this does not allow the meat to be cooked properly, as in, to get tenderized. Cooking with a barbecue smoker is a slow process, which allows the entire piece of meat to get slowly cooked and therefore, tenderized. For tough pieces of meat, this is extremely important. This is why many commercial restaurants prefer the barbecue smoker instead of the grill.

Today, a number of renowned manufacturers who manufacture barbecue equipment such as barbecue grilles also produce wide ranges of barbecue smokers. There are different models of barbecue smokers available in the market. Different shopping web sites on the Internet allow consumers to browse entire catalogues of barbecue smokers, select one that suits their needs perfectly, and purchase it directly on the web.

There are different kinds of barbecue smokers. Portable barbecue smokers are ideal for families that are always on the move, or for catering services that provide in-house buffets. Large, non-portable smokers are ideal for barbecue restaurants. Even models designed for domestic kitchens are there. Different models of barbecue smokers use different kinds of fuels, like domestic gas, wood and charcoal, for example.

For those who prefer quality barbecues, barbecue smokers are the best choice.
